Overview

What BlogPlus does

The extension pack RainLab Blog 2 needs on October CMS 4: tags you create while writing, blog search, view counts with popular posts, and related posts. It replaces the old free add-ons that no longer work as shipped on October CMS 4.4, and imports their data.

• Tags: a Tags tab on the post form (type to create), a tag cloud, tag pages and a backend tag filter
• Blog search with highlighted matches, scoped by category or tag
• A bot-filtered view counter, a Views column and a Popular Posts component
• Related posts, ranked by shared tags, then categories
• Imports tags and view counts from BlogTags, Blog Taxonomy and Blog Views
• Zero-code setup: switch features on in Settings and drop the components on your pages

Requirements

• October CMS 4.x
• RainLab Blog 2.x

Tags

A proper Tags tab on the RainLab Blog post form, where you type to create a tag, plus a tag cloud component, tag pages that list a tag's posts, and a tag filter on the backend post list.

Blog search

A search form and a results page with the matching words highlighted. Searches can be limited to a category or a tag.

Views and popular posts

Each post counts its views, with bots filtered out. The backend post list gets a Views column, and a Popular Posts component lists your most-read posts.

Related posts

A Related Posts component shows posts that share the most tags with the current one, then posts from the same categories.

Moving from the old add-ons

RainLab Blog 2 only runs on October CMS 4, and the free add-ons many blogs relied on (BlogTags, Blog Taxonomy, Blog Views and others) don't work as shipped on October CMS 4.4. BlogPlus covers the same jobs in one plugin, and its importer copies your existing tags and view counts across.

Setup

1. 1 Install BlogPlus from the October CMS Marketplace once it is released.
2. 2 Switch on the features you want in Settings.
3. 3 Drop the components (tag cloud, search, popular posts, related posts) on your CMS pages.
